Stora Sunnersta Vilohem, historical photo

Historical drawing of Sunnersta from 1795

Sunnersta, från östra sidan af Wiken. Afrit 1795. Härstedt, Johan Gustaf, 1756 - 1820, painter.

Sunnersta Herrgård has hundreds of different flowers in the garden, planted a long time ago. Among them is a very rare crabapple tree, Malus prunifolia, planted in 1850, only three with the same characteristics are known to still exist worldwide, at Sunnersta Herrgård, at SLU Alnarp in southern Sweden and at a seed bank in Luxembourg, College of Agriculture. Thanks to our various flowers and trees, our two bee colonies produce a lot of honey which we share with our tenants in the autumn. The foundations of the manor house were built in the Middle Ages, however the structure visible today comes from the late 18th century. Among the famous owners of Sunnersta Herrgård were: • Vice President of the Swedish Court of Appeal Olof Bure (1578-1655) • Head of the Swedish church and vice-chancellor at Uppsala university Laurentius Paulinus Gothus (1565–1646) • Head of the Swedish church and member of the Swedish Academy Carl Fredrik Af Wingård (1781–1851). The Swedish Academy is an independent cultural institution, founded in 1786 by King Gustaf III to advance the Swedish language and Swedish literature • Baron and lieutenant colonel Jakob Theodor Stiernstedt (1846-1928) with Baroness Emilia Liljencrantz (1844-1928)
